A Great Lover?

October 22nd, 2007

by Peter James

Most men aren’t really clear on what they think a great lover is, but most would like to become one. So what make women sigh and tell their girlfriends about a guy after the first time they make love? What makes a man so appealing and successful with many women? First off, women like to be listened to. They like to feel that they are communicating with their partner, and they are much more likely to feel special and relaxed when the man they are worth focuses on them. And feeling more relaxed can lead touch better sex. Also a man that pays honest attention to his date can make her feel like she is important and not just another body to him.

What’s more, most men that women consider great lovers really truly LIKE women. That makes a big difference. The average man in the street makes jokes about women, and doesn’t see them as friends. A man that makes women feel liked is going to be a man women like.

Also a man who touches women gently and doesn’t rush when he is kissing, touching or stroking makes a woman feel good. So many men want to get through the kissing and the foreplay and go straight to the sex, but women don’t feel that way. It makes them feel less relaxed and less like having sex at all. It certainly isn’t the way to excite and stimulate most women.

And of course, a great lover knows about the female body. He knows that most women are turned on by gentle bites on the neck and throat while being held from behind. He knows that gently pulling her head back with her hair while kissing her is very exciting for a lot of women.

He also pays attention during sex, and listens to the sounds his lover makes - or doesn’t make. He works his way gradually to her nipples and her inner thighs. If something makes her pull back a little, he is paying enough attention to notice, and will stop immediately.

A lover a woman remembers afterward doesn’t just stick in his penis and hammer at her. He doesn’t stop talking softly to her the minute that intercourse is achieved. Unfortunately most men do.

What really keeps most men from being great lovers - lovers that women remember with a smile for years - is that they have a goal - and they act as if the woman is a means to that goal. They are not sharing an experience or pleasure, they are trying to get off.

Next time you are on a date with a woman, try listening to her - really listening. Talk with her, get to really know her. Enjoy her company, don’t focus on the question of whether you will have sex with her later or anything other than the time you are spending with her at that very moment. If you treat every minute you spend with her in this way, and you do not rush, and you make her feel special, she is going to feel great being with you - and that is the most important first step toward being a great lover.

It is logical to assume that if we randomly pull two women from a crowded street and interview them, one of them might say that she prefers a circumcised man while the other may claim that she wants it otherwise.

Going back on the age-old question, which do women prefer- circumcised or uncircumcised? I had an opportunity to meet Jane (not her real name), a communication student in a southern college. According to her, she prefers her partner to be uncut. "Although I do base my opinion of a man on his big head, not his little one, I have to say that uncircumcised is better because there is more variation. Playing with the skin is like an added benefit, it feels comfortable while he is thrusting also. From my experience, cut penises tends to rub too hard and too much. A little friction is good, but too much can be quite painful. Uncut guys give just the right amount of friction and I like the way the skin moves back and forth in my mouth."

Meanwhile, Alex a customer service representative prefers circumcised men mainly for hygienic reasons as well as sexual ones. "Based on my previous encounters, cleanliness is important because the penis tastes, smells, and looks more appealing. Plus, spur-of-the-moment sexual activity is more enjoyable with a man who is circumcised, because bathing efforts last for longer periods of time."

As far as statistics are concerned however, a one-to-one profile will be meaningless. We need to go to a bigger perspective. The bottom line of course is the woman’s personal preferences but considerations on health should not be ignored. On one point, we have pain and shock- and on the other hand, we have pleasure and cleanliness. Women’s preferences in this subject have undoubtedly become more pertinent nowadays than let us say, two decades ago. During that long-ago era, about 90% of the male population in the Western world underwent circumcision but since then, a lot of lobbying has been done to stop this tradition. To date, only about 60% are circumcised for non-religious reasons.

So what are the reasons why women would prefer a circumcised man? If we based it on actual studies, one would be because it moves more smoothly during sex and as a result, both parties derive more enjoyment. Another is on the usage of condoms. Those who are uncircumcised would find it difficult keeping a condom on during actual sex.

In one particular survey conducted by a team of experts, 57% of the respondents said that they preferred circumcised penis because it looked more attractive. On the other hand, 33% preferred the other side. However, out of those unaccounted yet, 11 women said that their ideal male organ would be natural. Let us count out the anti-circumcision lobbyers and the remaining would be six respondents. Six whose "ideal penis" is untouched, so as far as this study is concern, the conviction that men in general are in favor of circumcision is highly exaggerated.

Still on this survey, with regard to oral sex, circumcision reigns supreme. About 80% of men who accepted oral sex were circumcised while the rest were not. Moreover, another study showed that circumcised men gave out more sexual contentment to the women. Among heterosexual men who engaged in sex at least once a month, it was concluded that 83% of those circumcised claimed that their partners achieved the orgasmic state while the remaining 17% claimed that their women did not. Of the uncircumcised, 53% claimed that their bed partners usually achieved climax and 47% revealed never or occasionally.

Before boring you to death with tons of figures, these significant comparative studies done over the years are still assumptions and nowhere near a conclusion. The general statement from women all over England, Singapore, North America, and other places is that circumcised penis wins.

Why did I say that we could safely assume but not definitely conclude? To carve it in stone would be too risky, indeed. There are other studies (done by equally intelligent and capable professionals) that concluded in favor of the uncircumcised. The outcome of these researches is that women are actually more at ease with what they are better acquainted with (and that is the natural). In one of these, what came out was a highly interesting piece of data that bulldozes the belief that circumcised men give "better sex" to women. This study said that 73% of the respondents said that "natural" men thrust more lightly and that their (the women’s) clitoris was in fact better "caressed," obviously indicating that they enjoyed the sex more.

As far as the definite answer is concerned, the jury is still out although all things considered, we can fearlessly say that the circumcised still holds the edge.

Burning Fat

October 22nd, 2007

In general, people will practice cardiovascular activities and forget about weight bearing exercises when it comes to burning fat. Many trainers will say that aerobic exercises burn off fat and weightlifting is only used to build muscle bulk. This statement is not entirely correct because the more muscle mass one acquires through weight bearing exercises, the more he will burn fat calories…even at rest. We see a growing trend from cardiovascular training towards weight and strength training.

According to a study by the Fitness Products Council and Sporting Goods Manufacturers, the number of people lifting free weights has increased 76 percent in the past decade. Right now, weight lifting is among the most popular sports in North America. This change is for the best because cardiovascular activity combined with weight training will result in much more effective fat loss. Cardiovascular exercises will raise muscle metabolism during the activity and for a short time after the exercise session.

Weight lifting exercises, on the other hand, will raise your muscle metabolism during the exercise session, and for a long time after the exercise session. Some high intensity trainers have even seen their metabolism rise for several days following their training session.
Performing adequate weight training exercises should limit your repetitions anywhere from 1 to 20 (more or less). Such resistance on muscles will make their tissue leaner and stronger. The muscle development will take place during the rest period following the resistance training. Therefore sufficient rest periods are essential.

Whether your goal is to tone or build muscles, it is important to know what happens during the muscle training process. When lifting weights, muscle tissues are torn apart (at the microscopic level) from the stress, and it’s in the recuperation period that your muscles become stronger and therefore able to support the extra stress. Usually the recuperation period required is 24 to 48 hours after the weight lifting activity.

During the recuperation period, the muscle metabolism is still burning energy, and that’s when it’s time to perform cardiovascular activities. Carrying out high repetitions of the same movement will tire the body on a different basis. Combining low repetition exercises (weight lifting) with high repetition cardiovascular exercise will stress muscles in a complementary way to increase the total fat burning effect.

Anybody who debates the fact that weight bearing exercises don’t help people lose weight and fat should lift weights for one hour and see their heart rate go through the roof. Simply look at athletes who specialize in short, intense bursts of energy and you still see that they are very low in body fat.

The point is to combine a weight lifting routine with a good cardiovascular workout to increase muscle metabolism and total fat burning ratio.

An important factor to consider when trying to lose weight is that lots of muscle mass can be lost as a result. As muscle mass will keep your metabolism high, try to avoid quick weight loss through miracle diets or starvation. This weight loss will be regained just as quickly. Instead, opt for a gradual fat loss routine by combining weight training and cardiovascular activities, and allow muscle mass to build up and increase your metabolism. Results may take a little longer , but they will last for a longer period of time.
